The Experience Point Lore Bible

The Experience Point Lore Bible is a Google document maintained by members of a server Mandy and I frequent, Experience Point. I backed it up here mostly as an experiment with the Glossary tool, but I do enjoy adding a few of my own additions every so often. It’s a collection of weird in-jokes and phrases used in the server and references to community events, so it’s…very specific.

0-9
1 Billion Lions Debate, The
The question “Which would win: 1 Billion Lions or 1 of Each Pokémon?” is a contentious topic on the server, with the original debate lasting an entire day and being made into a Phoenix Wright court simulator video. The topic is regularly re-litigated.
2B
The shortened name of YoRHa No. 2 Type B, the main character of 2017’s Nier Automata. Notable for being the first winner of the Experience Point Hunger Games.
A
A. Changer
Short for Arm Changer, one of the first notable original character villains generated for the ARMS Movie. He is a biker-themed fighter who can change his ARMS mid-fight. His leitmotif is Cooler’s Theme from Dragon Ball FighterZ. Art of the character by KTG can be viewed here.
ARMS Guessing Game
A phrase used to describe a situation that occurred during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in which a Nintendo Direct dropped unceremoniously on their channel and revealed that the first character in Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s Fighter Pass 2 was “a character from ARMS”. The weird nature of the announcement combined with the somewhat-underwhelming response to ARMS being added in and the nature of lockdown lead to a golden age of jokes about the game ARMS as the server went down every rabbit hole related to the series they could find.
ARMS Movie, The
An AI-generated fictional movie teaser in the format of a Sakurai Presents presentation created by server user Gentlepanda via AIDungeon. In it, Masahiro Sakurai (colloquially referred to as SakurAI) details a small snippet of a movie taking place in the universe of the Nintendo game ARMS, wherein having ARMS is a debilitating disease and the only “cure” are masks given out by the corrupt Arms Corporation in return for participating in gladiatorial combat. The main characters are Min Min and Ninjara, referred to in the text by his “real name”, Hayate. The full text of both “parts” of the movie can be read here.
ARMS Prequel Comic, The
A legitimate comic released on Free Comic Book Day 2018 detailing frankly insane levels of lore that Panda read and posted about during the ARMS Guessing Game of early 2020. Directly lead to the creation of the ARMS Movie due to how ridiculous it was. Unfortunately, the comic’s production was quietly canceled as of March 11th, 2021.
Adol Car
An image of Lightning McQueen from Cars with the face of Adol Christin from the Ys series photoshopped onto him and captioned “I am speed.” Originating from a comment on SmashBoards by user Gwen about how Adol’s gimmick in Super Smash Bros. would simply be moving at extreme speeds to reflect Ys’ gameplay, followed by user SharkLord making the Adol Car image in response.
Agnés
One of the earliest fake Smash Ultimate image leaks, a set of blurry character select and versus screen screenshots of Agnès Oblige from Bravely Default being part of the game. This “leak” was undone by the leaker putting the accent in her name the wrong way.
American Psycho
A satirical horror film released in 2000 and starring Christian Bale. A source of many memed scenes, including a non-existent Title Drop (“It’s you, Patrick! You’re the American Psycho!”). Notably has a “sequel” starring Mila Kunis called American Psycho 2, which was an unrelated movie the studio renamed before inserting an opening scene clumsily tying it to the original.
Among Us
A social deduction game that had a peak of popularity during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Subject of many jokes and memes, most prominent among them being the word “sus” and the phrase “Among WHAT?!” being said in response to the phrase “among us” being used in any context. Sometimes referred to as “Amogus”, which can also be used as a nickname for the Impostor/Crewmate characters.
Anchor Emoji
A running gag from Experience Point’s early days where user Opossum would post it and react with it mostly as a meaningless talking point. Has since fallen by the wayside. ⚓
And Don’t Forget The Joker
A reference to the N64 port of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 which contained a truncated version of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades”. Said version mainly consists of a loop of a later verse in the song, one chorus, and a guitar solo preceded by the phrase in question. It can be listened to here.
Aslan
A fictional lion and Jesus Christ parallel from C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia series. Brought up in the context of his potential inclusion within the possible Disney platform fighter (Disney Domination – see D) due to Disney owning the film rights to the Narnia series.
Azrael
An original character created by internet user Phratt to be included in the online video game Super Smash Flash 2. The only original character to appear in the game’s first trailer alongside characters like Sora, Goku, and Ichigo. Due to his lengthy backstory heavily inspired by The Matrix Reloaded, Azrael has become a server favorite, associated with the song Mona Lisa Overdrive, the phrase “I Am That Person”, and even remade and added to the Super Smash Bros. Crusade mod CMC+ by server member Tougon.
B
Baboom
The server’s official mascot. Originally the product of a fake Pokémon Sword and Shield leak and additionally featured in a fake Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Fighters Pass 1 leak, Baboom was deified as the God of Winning and is used on the server to signify wins in any form. The joke became significantly funnier when Pokemon Sword & Shield was released and Grookey’s final evolution was actually named “Rillaboom”. You can see him here.
Backlog From Hell, The
The name given to Daylight about their growing backlog of games to play, which they eventually decided to start streaming on Experience Point during some of their free time to help clear it and entertain their friends at the same time. Some games of the Backlog from Hell will not be streamed but still have their experiences written in Daylight’s game playthrough thread which bears a similar name.
Balan Wonderworld
A 3D Platforming game developed by Arzest and Team Balan and released by Square Enix in 2021 to mass ridicule and derision. The last work of famous video game developer Yuji Naka before he was arrested in Japan for insider trading. Streamed to the Experience Point Discord server in early 2023, after which some server users became Balan Wonderworld apologists. Represented by the Oops! server sticker and is also the origin of Farmer Ted.
Banjos Are A Brave Instrument
An oft-joked-about fan theory from Smash Ultimate speculation that tried to connect Banjo of Banjo-Kazooie fame to the datamined SSBU codename “Brave” (which ultimately turned out to be Hero). It can be read here.
Barben-heimer
Portmanteau of the movie titles for Barbie and Oppenheimer, which both released on July 21st, 2023. Hyped up in the press as a cinema showdown or possible double feature.
Bayonetta’s Space Jam 2 Cameo
A piece of misinformation spread by server user Opossum stating that Bayonetta, the titular main character of Sega’s Bayonetta series, was present as a background character in the final act of Space Jam 2. Went unchallenged until Opossum himself confessed because nobody on the server had actually watched Space Jam 2 to know otherwise.
Beware The Forest’s Mushrooms (Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Unused)
Also known as just “Forest Maze Orchestra”. When Super Smash Bros. Brawl was datamined, a set of unused music track filenames was discovered. Among them was “snd_bgm_A12_MORINOKINOKO”, which translates to Forest’s Mushrooms. While this is accepted by many to refer to Wildwood Forest, it gained popularity on YouTube as possibly referring to Beware The Forest’s Mushrooms from Super Mario RPG, particularly after an account uploaded an “unused” or “lost” set of Brawl tracks that included an orchestral remix of the song. The remix in question is extremely poor and out-of-time, with the MIDI instruments and arrangement likened to an elementary school orchestra. Often tied to jokes about Geno.
Big Red Wave
During the 2020 United States Presidential Election, former mixed martial artist and temporary mayor of Huntington Beach Tito Ortiz stated that a BIG RED WAVE would sweep over California, winning the state for the Republican Party. Obviously, this did not happen. Lampooned by server users in reference to made up major movements or events that have no chance of actually happening.
Black Tar
A song composed by Japanese artist Hiroyuki Sawano for the 2015 video game Xenoblade Chronicles X, popular within the server for memorably strange, funny lyrics and tonal inconsistency from the rest of the game’s soundtrack.
Blue Alear
A counterpart to Red Alear. Depicted with entirely blue hair and eyes. Usually interpreted as also being evil, but less unhinged and often annoyed by Red Alear’s antics. The basis for the alearhinged emote.
Bo
A minor character in the ARMS Movie. Min-Min’s best friend and love interest throughout the story.
Branch / “BRANCH”
A joke lampooning the glut of samey indie game trailers that come out during E3/The Summer of Suffering. Branch is a Hot New Indy Game described as featuring Breath Of The Wild-inspired vistas, slow piano music, shots of wildlife, and a one-word nature-themed title, often with no concrete release date or gameplay shown.
Brown Space
A non-existent location within the video game OMORI, found within the main character’s toilet. Associated with the song Sinking from the game’s soundtrack.
C
CHAOS
How the protagonist of Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, Jack Garland, says the name of the game’s antagonist he wishes to kill.
Captain George
A character who originated in a dream by member Opossum. During the dream, a Nintendo Direct announced that the then-unnamed Breath of the Wild sequel would be named The Legend of Zelda 2, an obscure 2DS indie game would be getting Golden Sun DLC, Koei-Tecmo would be developing a game called Fire Emblem Girls, and Tomato Adventure would be getting remade. Most importantly, it revealed that a new Smash character would be added, with Sakurai explaining that his name had to be changed for “tax reasons”. The trailer consisted of the Captain Toad theme remade by the team that did the music for Yoshi’s New Island and Captain Toad exiting from a revolving door. His tagline was “CAPTAIN GEORGE! the Battle” and the trailer ended immediately after his reveal.
Cars Series Lore
A subject of much debate among the server, spiraling into uncomfortable unpacking of the world of the Cars movies, discussion of the Cars 2 Kill Count, and the licensed Cars video games.
Character’s Iconic [X]
A phrase used to refer to a character using something they don’t normally use and pretending that they’re known for it See Majima’s Iconic Gun under section M for the joke’s most notable example.
Chieno
A portmanteau of the words Chief and Geno, referring to the characters Master Chief from Halo and Geno from Super Mario RPG. During a drought of news due to COVID-19 lockdown, multiple prominent leakers suggested that a Nintendo Direct would be announced on a certain date. At the same time, NonSpecificGuy brought up the possibility that, based on “water cooler talk” between his connections at his job, the next two characters in Fighter Pass 2 to be revealed at the time would be Master Chief and Geno. This was latched onto out of a combination of hope and because it was funny. Eventually, the direct was announced on the predicted day…at exactly midnight, and it was the first ever Partner Direct.
Cinderace in Smash
A dream from user Daylight about Cinderace getting into Smash.

[The Nintendo Direct] started with Pikachu and Charizard and then they were numbered 1 & 2, and then I assume they went down the line of all the Pokemon reps (it was only Pikachu and Charizard in my dream) before doing a shitty windows movie maker transition (the one where the screen “opens up” into the next shot) into Cinderace and I was just sitting there at my computer booing the entire time

Later dramatized by user Fly alongside the song Bodies by the band Drowning Pools, making the song synonymous with Cinderace within the server
Citizen Kane
A famously-influential 1941 American drama film following a reporter’s search for the meaning of the enigmatic Charles Foster Kane’s last words. Is the subject of many server jokes centering around the juxtaposition between the film’s status as a prestigious film and the absurd situations it is depicted in. Examples include theories about Kane’s potential inclusion in MultiVersus (see section M), jokes about the “iconic cane” (See Majima’s Iconic Gun under section M and Title Drops under section T), and the Del Monte Vegetable Classics label supposedly attached to the movie (see section D).
Clockwork Orangers, The
A term used to refer to the droogs from the 1962 novel A Clockwork Orange and its 1971 film adaptation. The term spun-off from discussions about the droogs’ bizarre cameo in the film Space Jam: A New Legacy. Given that the gang are responsible for violent and immoral acts, it felt absurd to have them cameo in a film meant for children. Based on a still image of said cameo, The Orangers have been recontextualized as cheerleaders who will bring someone up at their lowest. They are often accompanied by chants of “Clockwork Orange, Clockwork Orange!” sung to the tune of the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song.
Composite [X], The
A joke that originated with the ARMS Guessing Game (see A) when people were suggesting that multiple ARMS characters could share a single slot despite protestations from ARMS fans that that wouldn’t make a lot of sense due to character geometry and abilities. Is used as a joke to refer to hypothetical fan movesets featuring multiple versions of a character or multiple characters from a series being mashed into a single character, usually at the expense of the character’s recognizability and any actual gameplay utility.
Corbeau
Antagonist in the Madoka Magica spinoff Puella Magi Tart Magica: The Legend of “Jeanne d’Arc” that first came to the attention of some server members during a tier list stream for the many obscure characters in the Puella Magi series.
Corveau
A corruption of “Corbeau” that later became an integral part of the story for The Quiet Woman, due to one of the characters (originally the game’s antagonist, but later the titular Quiet Man) wearing a similar looking mask to Corbeau.
Crazy Chocobo
A song from the video game Final Fantasy XIII-2. It’s a vocal hard rock rearrangement of the Final Fantasy series’ recurring Chocobo theme song, and the song’s contrasting and ridiculous nature has gained it some popularity with EXP users. Particularly associated with user Speed Weed, who used to frequently sport Fat Chocobo profile pictures.
D
D.A.T.A.
A fictional Sega Genesis game dreamed up by user KTG and greatly expanded by him and the server as a whole. Standing for “Defenders Against The Aliens”, it is a game about stopping the Scaloid alien race from slaughtering humanity by defeating their leader, Zellen. It is notable for being surprisingly brutal in its death scenes and for having a poorly-received reboot done by Activision in the mid-00s. For more information about the dream and characters, see Zellen (Section Z).
DUNC
Often stylized with the characters “ᑐᑌᑎᑕ,” DUNC refers to the 2021 adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The term originates from the film (and later, the entire Dune franchise) using a stylized logo where the E cannot be read as such unless on a dark backdrop. This is most notable in the film’s poster, where the logo is present on a teal backdrop with the text IT BEGINS. The protagonist of Dune is sometimes jokingly called Paul Dunc for this reason.
Dataguy
The protagonist of the “original” Genesis version of D.A.T.A., a nameless space marine sent in to take care of Zellen. A commonly-used sticker is an image created by KTG of Dataguy saying “THERE HE IS!”, which is itself an edit of Ryu from Street Fighter 2.
Del Monte Vegetable Classics
Refers to a label that a friend of server user Fly came across attached to a Citizen Kane VHS tape, alleging the movie is part of the Del Monte Foods company’s “Vegetables Classics” series. Jokes quickly arose around the line of Vegetables Classics releases due to the lack of documentation surrounding the odd cross-promotion. Edits of the label on different items were also made, much in the same vein as the popular “Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series” label joke.
Disney Domination
A supposed “Smash-killer” developed by Square Enix using Unreal Engine 5. According to fake leaks, Disney Domination is said to be a platform fighter with 55 characters and a AAA budget that has spent 5 years in development. As the title suggests, it is a crossover of various properties owned by Disney. Though not a real game, the concept has become popular within Experience Point. Supposed leaked images of this game have been of an incredibly low quality, with poor photoshopping, AI generation, and completely unreasonable UI formatting. The hypothetical roster contains numerous properties Disney would never acknowledge they own especially in a game with Mickey Mouse (such as Family Guy). However, the most popular aspect of the game to discuss is its supposed cinematic story mode and its main antagonist, Flame Face (see F).
Disney Mirrorverse
A 2022 role-playing Disney game that’s achieved notoriety within the server for its weird reinterpretations of iconic Disney characters, such as Mike Wazowski in an exosuit, Woody as an actual human, and Kermit as a medieval bard.
Divorced Akuma
During the time in which Street Fighter 6’s roster was leaked, Fly spoke out about an old experience of hers in a wrestling community. Members could “sign” their own original characters for fantasy wrestling shows, and one day someone got high and came in to sign up “Divorced Akuma”. The character was described as the character Akuma from the Street Fighter series, but wearing a suit because “he’d just gotten out of filing the paperwork for his divorce”. Other highlights included “Gender: ???” and one of his special moves being “the Shun Goku Satsu but sadder”. This story immediately caught on due to the ridiculousness of the concept.
Dumpster Dive
The term mainly used to describe user Daylight’s streams of low-quality games found usually on the PSN store, but can also refer to streams of schlock in general, such as The Quiet Man, Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend for the Sega Saturn, or the film The Skeleton Man.
Dunkaccino
A scene from the terrible Adam Sandler movie Jack & Jill, where Al Pacino is cast in an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts’ Dunkaccinos and bursts into a song referencing his most famous roles. Two memorable lines from the opening are “It’s not Al anymore, it’s DUNK!” and “Don’t mind if I do!”.
E
Emote Poll, The
A weekly 24-hour poll where users can vote for which user-submitted emote will be added among the server’s exclusive emotes. Typically done on Sundays if the staff doesn’t forget.
Emote Purge, The
A bi-annual vote happening in both May and November conducted to remove emotes that are deemed unpopular using a democratic system where users vote for which emotes survive. This is done to prevent having the server be filled with emotes that see little usage after being voted in on the Emote Poll.
Emperor Lightyear is a Boss
A phrase that originated from Disney Domination roster discussion that dismissively assigns unwanted characters a boss role instead of a playable one. The day the leaks surfaced, four members attempted to approximate what a full 55 character roster would look like based on the energy of the leaked images with the one stipulation being that all leaked characters had to be included. After all the rosters were completed, it was discovered that Emperor Lightyear, a character present in one of the leaks, was accidentally omitted. This was handwaved by saying “Emperor Lightyear is a boss,” with this excuse later applied to other supposed leaked characters, such as Mr. Burns.
Everybody 1-2-Switch
A sequel to the Nintendo Switch launch title that was apparently so bad it caused Nintendo to shelve it for over a year before unceremoniously dropping it on the eShop. Hosted by a character named Horace Showpony, an uncanny-looking suited character wearing a realistic horse head, who has become a source of jokes and ridicule because of, well, everything.
Experience Point Community Nuzlockes
Also known as EXP Egglockes, these are playthroughs of Pokemon game using various user-crafted Pokemon (or “eggs”) which range from absolute trash to utterly busted, usually the latter. Notably, while there have been four runs from different users and another coming soon, only Nova and Daylight ever managed to finish their run without un-Nuzlocking it.
Experience Point Extermination
The sequel to Tougon’s first modded Experience Point World of Light playthrough, now themed around Disney Domination and Flame Face, featuring brand new spirit battles submitted by users and custom bosses.
Experience Point Fighters
The 16th Experience of the Week, set up by Sheeer in early 2023 that consisted of creating a fighting game roster through user submissions. The result was a mixture of various server in-jokes as well as some users’ original characters. User Daylight would then create an original story mode for the “game” called Night Descends, which can be read here.
Experience Point Forums
A forum site made during the early days of the server. While it had some activity when it was first made (and acted as a way for Moy to show off her self-made plug-ins), it eventually died down due to the realization that all the things we would talk about there could be done so on the actual server, leading to its termination. The Experience Point Forums bot and the archived forum-alerts channel are the only evidence left that this forum ever existed. As of 2024, it exists again in a smaller-scale form.
Experience Point Hunger Games, The
An annual event using the Hunger Games Simulator used to celebrate the server’s anniversary. Users submit their own tributes and events. As per tradition, whoever wins the yearly Hunger Games becomes an emote for the server. Past winners have been 2B, Reggie Fils-Aime & Nino, Veld, Guitar Wolf, and Map-To-The-Stars Eddie.
Experience Point World of Light
A fully-modded playthrough of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s World of Light campaign created by user Tougon. The campaign features custom spirit battles submitted by users and by Tougon himself against many server in-jokes along with explanations thereof, as well as additional interesting spirit additions and other unrelated jokes. It was streamed in its entirety in April & May of 2023 for Experience Point’s 4th anniversary and can be watched here.
Experience Polls
The replacement for Experience of the Week, an event where a poll is opened for 49 hours, a reference to how Experience #49 never happened.
Experience of the Week
A set of 50 different weekly events (which typically lasted more than a week) acting as a follow-up to the Question of the Day events. Experiences occurred between late 2022 and early 2024, the majority of them being hosted by Osiris. These have since been replaced with Experience Polls.
F
FLOOOR
A shorthand reference to the song “Bodies” by Drowning Pool, often used as a way to denote edgy early-00s media, YouTube trends, and similar. Associated with the Pokemon Cinderace after Daylight’s “Cinderace in Smash” dream.
Fake Leak
A general term used to refer to any text post or blurry image capture of dubious quality, often in conjunction with supposed Nintendo Direct news or most prominently during Smash Speculation. Some examples of fake leaks that are still referenced to this day include Sassy Geno, Baboom Leak, Onceler Joker, Agnés, Mario2, Gothitelle Leak, and most recently Disney Domination.
Farmer Ted
The fan nickname of a character from Balan Wonderworld, named after a SnapCube video titled “Fuck it up, Farmer Ted”. Became known as a being of immense power when official art was released that gave him the nickname “The Man Who Rages Against The Storm”. He is associated with Vergil’s theme from Devil May Cry 5, Bury The Light, as a result. According to supplemental material, his real name is Jose Gallard.
Finger Meter, The
A fictional meter (see section M) for the character Colm Doherty from The Banshees of Inisherin in a fighting game. References one of the film’s primary plot points, wherein Colm threatens to cut off his fingers if the film’s protagonist, Padraic, doesn’t leave him alone, with the meter depleting with each finger cut off.
Flame Face
Sometimes known as Ultra Flame Face, Flame Face is the antagonist of Disney Domination. He has a human body and wears a black suit, but has a skull with blue flames for a head. Flame Face is said to possess unfathomable power which grants him the strength to destroy “this planet and everyone on it.” So powerful is Flame Face, even the almighty Woody fears him. Due to his generic design for a crossover villain and overwhelming strength, in conjunction with the point that he is a Disney character and would thus be subject to numerous rounds of approval to even exist, Flame Face has become a popular subject for jokes. For example, a running gag involves Flame Face appearing as a post-credits scene in various Disney films to tease the upcoming (fictitious) crossover. The joke reached its peak when Flame Face became a major part of the Experience Point Extermination, complete with Tougon modding him into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and giving him a voice.
Flame Leak
A false leak created by user Tougon and posted in Smashboards in an attempt to make a shitpost, notably having “flame” as the name for the internal files and claiming this was the fourth character in the second Fighters Pass. While this originated as a joke based on Homura Akemi from the Madoka Magica series, this joke would shockingly become prophetic through the reveal of Pyra (known in Japan as Homura) as part of the fourth slot of the second Fighters Pass alongside Mythra, with “flame” and “eflame” as their internal names.
Forenzik
The main antagonist of the creepypasta Happy Appy. Forenzik is the director of the titular Happy Appy show which is, in universe, a Nick Jr. series originally about an apple that helps children with first aid. Originally described as monstrous and with clawed hands, as the story develops he is later shown to be a human being. In the original version of the story, Forenzik is killed a total of seven times. The character is often associated with the phrase “did Forenzik do this” which while not present in the story itself, parodies how the protagonist often questions if anything, even coincidences, were caused by Forenzik.
G
G-Force
A Disney film released in the 2000s about a team of hyper-intelligent guinea pigs who are sent on espionage missions. The movie’s outlandish premise – and its representation of a particular strain of Silly 2000s Live-Action Disney Movies – has earned it a status as a semi-frequent talking point on this server. It originally wasn’t that common, mainly popping up for one-off jokes about how it was a cinematic masterpiece or should appear in Kingdom Hearts, but it particularly started picking up steam when a big chunk of a stream of the game Limbo was dedicated to discussion on the film. It then became more of a running joke, culminating in Nova streaming the actual licensed game based on the film. A particular strain of this joke is an imaginary scene where the G-Force goes to the Middle East – it was parroted enough to fool a couple of users into thinking it was an actual scene, and has led to jokes about the G-Force participating in the War on Terror.
GET READY! GET READY! HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GO
The lyrics to the main theme of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, a song used in every trailer. Was for a long time impossible to find outside of the clip used in advertising, but has since been discovered to be a production track by JAHKOBI.
Game Guy, The
A character from a dream by user Fly in which a trailer for a new Smash character seemed to hint at the main character of Atari’s Adventure, only for the trailer to blatantly tell the viewer that they couldn’t get the rights so they added “The Game Guy” instead, an obscure shoot-em-up character. After his reveal, online discourse shifted to the public all saying that they remembered The Game Guy, sharing vague memories about him and his game. Represented by a green square or cube.
Game Night (#game-night)
A channel within Experience Point used to host weekly get-togethers of server users wherein they play various accessible online games (e.g. Jackbox Games, Codenames, Power Bomberman, Among Us, Duck Game, etc.). Progenitor of a variety of in-jokes.
Geno
A party member from Super Mario RPG that takes the form of a star spirit possessing a doll and assists Mario with his gun, Geno Whirl, and Geno Boost moves. Enjoys popularity in Super Smash Bros. circles due to his moveset potential, though this has created a deeply-devoted fanbase that reached a new apex during Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Geno Says A Slur
A copypasta detailing a Tumblr user’s dream around Smash 4 that Geno was revealed for Smash with a trailer that took place in gm_bigcity from G-Mod, only for Geno to look into the camera and say “a slur”, causing the Direct to be taken off the air. When it came back, Sakurai apologized and told everyone they were removing Geno from the game. The absurdity of the dream made it instantly quotable.
Ge🅱️o
A misspelling of Geno that Opossum did when adding an emote of Sassy Geno (see S) that has stuck, remaining as part of both SassyGebo and GeboUnfunny. Not meant to be derogatory, just a funny misspelling. Sometimes used to refer to a separate character as Mario RPG’s Geno, implying he is the “good side” or similar.
Golden Sun ARPG
Joke shorthand for fake leaks and Nintendo Direct predictions that often include old Nintendo franchises from the person’s childhood. Specifically refers to a hypothetical reboot of oft-discussed-in-Smash-circles Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS RPG series Golden Sun, with a modern remake being pitched as a Kingdom Hearts-esque action RPG said to be under development by every company under the sun.
Gooper Blooper
A boss from Super Mario Sunshine. In the early days of YouTube, Speed Weed found a video of Mario Kart character suggestions that included him, and it was such an inspired out-there suggestion that the idea never died. The video was unearthed again more recently, and the Gooper Blooper army is stronger than ever.
Gothitelle Leak
A fake leak that claimed that Gothitelle would be getting into Smash Ultimate as a Gardevoir Echo. Notable for the extremely funny backstory for the leak (See Mario2) as well as for correctly predicting Richter Belmont, a character no one had guessed prior to his reveal.
Guitar Wolf
Japanese punk band that has been active since the late 80s, consisting of frontman Guitar Wolf and his bandmates Drum Wolf and Bass Wolf. Notable for starring in the zero-budget 1999 horror-comedy Wild Zero, a rock and roll zombie movie streamed by Fly as part of a Movie Marathon (see Section M), highly regarded within the server for its pro-trans rights messaging, especially around the turn of the century when such sentiment was not as widespread. Guitar Wolf won the 2023 Experience Point Hunger Games (see Section E), leading to the movie being streamed a second time in celebration. Guitar Wolf also cameos in the Teen Titans opening theme, playing guitar during the official music video.
H
Happy Appy
A creepypasta story about a blogger who discovers he is in possession of recordings of a rare lost Nick Jr. show. Although at first a harmless show about a helpful apple, it later contains disturbing images and on screen mass murder. Though the story itself is not very well regarded, memories of it resurfaced on a day where members were discussing pieces of Internet horror content. Happy Appy has since become popular on the server for its absurd length, nonsensical plot twists, and its antagonist, Forenzik.
Hayate
According to the ARMS Movie, the real name of ARMS character Ninjara.
Hello chat
A greeting routinely said by FazDude at least once per day since April 11th, 2022. Other users have occasionally used the line. Typically answered to by other users reacting with the HiyaPapaya emote.
Hero today / “hero tomorrow”
A phrase that became popular during Fighter Pass 1 where, after Hero and Banjo & Kazooie were revealed during E3 2019, their showcase date and release date were unknown. It became common practice to state that Hero [would be revealed] Tomorrow or predict other dates that it would happen. This has extended into predicting other announcements such as Nintendo Directs with the similar phrase “Direct Today”.
Hilda is the Death Knight
A fake spoiler spread on the server during the early days of Fire Emblem Three Houses referring to the identity of a major antagonist. Usually given as a way to mask other actual spoilers, and as a punchline since Hilda Valentine Goneril is not particularly villainous. Notable for becoming so prevalent one user actually believed it.
Himeko
A fan nickname for Ronin from Etrian Odyssey that has morphed into Moydow’s OC and one of the many server mascots. Notable for having tricked the entire server into thinking there’s actually a character named Himeko in the EO series. There is not. Often characterized as bloodthirsty and wielding Jonathan (See J). Mortal enemies with Yodasumi.
Honda Civic
The preferred car used for vehicular homicide by Yodasumi.
Hopper
The main antagonist of the 1998 Pixar film, A Bug’s Life. Was featured in the Disney mobile game, Disney Sorcerer’s Arena, despite being a very out there and weird choice. The discovery of this led to the creation of an in-joke where the sole reason for Hopper’s inclusion was that the developers of Sorcerer’s Arena were forced by Disney to add him, leading to the claim that Hopper was “Disney-mandated,” and as such is a required character in further Disney crossover games.
How Many Rocks
A question usually asked by Rose, typically towards new users. The question is never fully written, but it is about how many rocks someone can eat. Originated as a Spy Squids (see S) bit.
I
I’ll be very surprised
Part of a phrase usually used in conjunction with “If we aren’t [doing x] in [a timeframe]…”. Smashboards poster Fatmanonice was known to use vague posts with similar phrasing to imply he knew more about the industry than he did and rile up Geno’s fanbase, and posts mocking this particular posting style became more common as more and more “leakers” came out of the woodwork.
Iconic Lion, The
A running joke originating from MultiVersus regarding who would be the best choice for an Animal Planet representative, with users settling in the “Iconic” Lion from the logo. Sometimes used to refer to other Iconic Lions, such as the one from the MGM logo.
Inner Demon
A “game” that user Tougon worked on in an old job which involved a person swapping between their human form and their titular inner demon in order to go through platforming and action challenges. For the longest time, all we knew of the game came from Tougon’s words until he did a stream of many of his old projects, including Inner Demon. Showing off the game and explaining the executive decisions behind it (which mostly boiled down to Tougon’s old boss asking the team to “make a game that will win an award”) only made it even more of a meme.
Inspector Gadget
A popular classic cartoon character that was later adapted into a late-90s live action movie starring Matthew Broderick. In this case, it’s used to refer to a specific poster for the movie Oppenheimer showing the main character in a fedora and trenchcoat standing in front of the nuclear bomb. The similarities between Oppenheimer’s outfit and the live action Inspector Gadget’s outfit were the source of several jokes, only made worse by the word “gadget” actually being uttered in the film. Things got sillier when Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’s poster was almost identical to Oppenheimer’s, and it peaked when it was discovered the movie Le Samourai contains a scene featuring a room full of people all wearing this outfit.
J
Jackie Is A Mermaid
Jackie Lynn Thomas, a tertiary character in the Disney television show, Star Vs the Forces of Evil, is used as a romantic crush for the secondary lead Marco and nothing really more. Despite her ultimate unimportance to the show, a cracked fan theory swirled that she would later be revealed to be a mermaid. This was supposedly supported due to her shell necklace and supplemental material stating her two-toned white and turquoise hair color was natural. Experience Point users went wild hearing this theory, citing its absurdity, the notion that Jackie would actually be important later on, and even if she was a mermaid, it’d probably have little impact on the actual plot. It got to the point whenever Jackie was on the screen during the Star Vs watchalong, the chat would go feral and try to find connections that’d help this theory. It arguably reached its tipping point once it was discovered via concept art that Jackie almost wore a mermaid costume for the episode “Hungry Larry”, giving us the closest thing to an official Mermaid Jackie. Also associated with her consistent phrase, “Hey Marco”, aka the only thing she says in most episodes.
James
The supposed real name of Spring Man from ARMS, as revealed in the ARMS Movie.
Jane Hairbones
Also known as just “Jane”. Refers to a set of strange circumstances surrounding the character Kasumi Yoshizawa from Persona 5 Royal. Before the release of Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, junk data was found referring to fighter_kind_jack and a kind of modeling mesh for hair physics for a character with the codename “jane”. It was rumored that a new release for Persona 5 was on the horizon due to the upcoming concert that usually houses big announcements, and when P5 Royal was revealed along with the new character who would eventually be named Kasumi, it was often wondered if she would be a playable skin for Joker when he dropped thanks to this junk data. It’s actually possible that this was once the case, as concept art for a Persona 5 female protagonist was shown, with her looking very similar to Kasumi, and Joker’s moveset even using new abilities introduced in Persona 5 Royal.
Jonathan
A name given to Thor’s hammer Mjolnir during an interview with Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd. Occupies a similar context as the banhammer of yore. Himeko’s preferred weapon.
Junior
The son of legendary pool player Minnesota Fats (see section M). Became a gay icon for the server when, in a cutscene for the Sega Saturn version of Minnesota Fats: Pool Legend, he says the phrase “I’m game!” with emphasis on the first syllable of “game,” leading to the phrase being misheard as an enthusiastic “I’m gay!”.
K
Kangaroo Jack
A 2003 Australian film notorious for featuring the titular Kangaroo in one poster, one dream sequence and nowhere else in the movie. This caused the film to become a popular example of a movie straight up lying to the audience. Also had an ad where “Jump Around” was slightly sped up for no discernable reason. It has an animated sequel no one talks about where the Kangaroo is real and actually talks.
Kung Fu Panda 2 For The Nintendo DS
A game Peridot was gifted as a child that they never played. Notable for having an exclusive Nintendo DSi Feature advertised on the box, which no one can find any documentation about. In October 2023, Espurr revealed that she actually owns the game and after many attempts, we found that they were related to QR codes that would have worked with the game and provided cheat codes, but anything related to it has long since been scrubbed from the internet.
L
Le Samouraï
A critically-acclaimed French film released in 1967, starring Alain Delon as contract killer Jef Costello. The film earned notoriety in the server in early 2024, as after user Fly watched it, it started frequently appearing in several users’ periphery, such as being found in film stores, being scheduled for showings in local theaters and television channels, and arguably culminating in the film getting an updated Criterion Collection release. This led to users cracking jokes about Le Samouraï being everywhere, as well as the “Le Samouraïnaissance”. Other aspects that contribute to the film’s status as a subject of jokes include its humorous title and comparisons with fellow EXP in-jokes such as Oppenheimer.
Leader of Hong Kong
Originating from a dream by user Bolderousness, Leader of Hong Kong is a character usually depicted as Arthur from Soulcalibur but with white hair, and armed with an AK-47. Leader of Hong Kong does not refer to the character’s profession, but is his actual name. In the dream, LHK first appears at the beginning of an E3 Direct, where he is depicted as a white dude in a suit with gray hair who is attacked by soldiers while giving a speech. Later on during the direct, Mario is shown kneeling after being defeated by Albert Wesker, who has a Smash invitation in hand. Wesker walks away but is then gunned down by Leader of Hong Kong and Sakurai reveals both Jill and Claire from Resident Evil will be playable.
Leakerman
A term used to refer to anyone who claims to be an industry insider yet appears dubious or makes vague claims that cannot be substantiated.
Lego Alucard
A shorthand reference to a dream that user Fly had in which a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character trailer was dropped for the Castlevania character Alucard, but animated in a stop-motion Lego style. In the dream, Lon Lon Ranch was under attack by Dracula only for him to be stopped by Alucard, who didn’t get a splash screen. After the trailer aired, Fly In The Dream went to a locker room to meet with Masahiro Sakurai only to find that a group of Japanese fans had wallpapered it with money because of how happy they were with Alucard’s addition to the game.
Leonidas
A monster from the Bakugan series. During COVID-19 lockdown, Nintendo announced that WayForward would be developing a new game for the Nintendo Switch, which footage being shown during a Nintendo Treehouse event. Speculation ran rampant, until, in one of the most awkward livestreams ever broadcast, Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia was revealed. Highlights of the stream included the developers clearly reading off of a teleprompter over awkward unfinished gameplay, a car alarm going off mid-stream, and another developer letting us know they “listened to the fans” to add an extra Bakugan, Leonidas. An abridged version of funny moments can be watched here.
Let’s go geno
A phrase uttered by a poster after Smashboards moderation locked the original Geno thread for bad behavior. A Smashboards user made a new Geno thread and this was one of the only posts in it before it too was locked. The simplicity and passive-aggressive nature of the post lead to it being immortalized.
Lilo & Stitch Killed The Dreamcast
A phrase referring to a joke grudge that Fly has against the popular Disney characters for supposedly killing Sega’s last home console. Actually a reference to a bizarre classified ad found in Retro Gamer Issue 4 that pointed towards a website that used pictures of Lilo & Stitch to advocate DDOSing Sega to get them to bring back the console. More information can be found here.
Little Mack
A minor character from The ARMS Movie. A small pink creature, described as “adorable” and looking like a “cross between an earless rabbit and a panda” by SakurAI. It was called out by Max Brass with the phrase “Come on out, Little Mack!”, only to be swiftly killed by floating transparent blob monsters in some sort of test. Despite its lack of plot importance, it gained a following due to its name, which is thought to be a reference to Little Mac, the player character of the Punch-Out!! series. Max Brass’ line is quoted occasionally as a result, as well.
Los Angeles
A city in the state of California known by users due to the way Tougon, who lives in LA County, describes it. Most notable for the seven lane highway. Rose in usage once Los Angeles Laps was announced and subsequently released in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass which spun off many more funny jokes such as the nonexistent bike lanes, the fact that most of the track contains landmarks from cities that aren’t even LA, including oil rigs from Inglewood for some reason, and that despite being called “Laps”, it is in fact a section track.
Louise the Mouse
The name of the star of an indie 2D platformer that came to Nova in a dream. In her dream, Masahiro Sakurai revealed the final fighters – Balan (See section B) as a bonus fighter, and Louise. The trailer for her consisted of a huge fight in the Undertale Judgement Hall as an a capella version of Bury the Light played, only for Louise to run out and offer the fighters cheese in order to stop the battle. Louise is not a mouse, but a girl in a mouse costume.
Luma in a Mech
A theory on how Geno would fit in the modern Mario canon that was born of Super Mario Galaxy establishing Lumas as being very similar to Mario RPG’s star spirits. Gained popularity because the idea of a Luma piloting the Geno doll like a little mech is very cute.
M
Majima’s Iconic Gun
A joke referring to how many people creating roster images featuring Yakuza/Like A Dragon characters who may not be familiar with the series default to using art of Goro Majima from his Project X Zone appearance, which is based on the spinoff title Yakuza: Dead Souls. In that game, Majima uses an assault rifle, which is a weapon that he is not known to use otherwise. Entered the server mainstream when YouTuber Thorgi’s Arcade made a hypothetical Sega platform fighter roster that contained many strange decisions and inaccuracies, including using Majima’s Project X Zone render. Originated the [Character]’s Iconic [X] joke (see section C).
Mangler 2, The
A bad horror movie VHS that server user Fly found in a thrift store that purports to be a sequel to the Stephen King story The Mangler. It is an incomprehensible film about a virus downloaded from Hacker Girlz Online that is uploaded to a school’s security system, causing it to go haywire. The title font is in Chiller and the movie contains the phrase “You’ve Been Mangled”, which has since been combined with the “You’ve been BEANED!” meme to hilarious results.
Mario Kart Tour Landmarks
A running joke about cities having “famous” landmarks based on Mario Kart Tour’s interpretation of various cities, such as Bangkok’s Parking Garage, the entirety of Los Angeles Laps, or the Berlin Whomp.
Mario the Juggler
Originally a modified release of Ball, Mario the Juggler is an obscure Game & Watch game with a funny title that became a punchline in the server. Became even funnier when the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. was released in 2020 and contained said game.
Mario2
Refers to a particular detail in Gothitelle Leak (see G) in which someone claimed to have stolen the data from an E3 demo kiosk and that it contained a second Mario file, Mario2. It also claimed the data was self-deleting and had self-destructed before any meaningful evidence of this “leak” could be captured.
Meter Mario
An alternate version of Mario in Super Smash Bros. said to possess every single meter in the game. This grants him access to KO Punch, all Tomes, Monado Arts, Limit Break, Ink, Arsene, Command Selection, Wonderwing, Block Placement, Rage, and all Magic. Meter Mario later made an appearance in EXP Fighters with even more abilities.
Mickey’s Speedway USA
A Mario Kart-esque game developed and released by Disney and Rare in 2000 and 2001 for the N64 and GBC. Heavily based around Mario Kart 64 but with a (small) story mode and tracks loosely based on cities in the US, it spent most of its post-release history overshadowed by its predecessor, Diddy Kong Racing, as well as Crash Team Racing. Became an EXP in-joke when Tougon brought up a Vinesauce MUGEN video. Where a broken joke character features the name and Mickey’s model, but the voice being taken from Mario Kart 64’s title screen much to Vinny’s baffled hilarity. Ergo, EXP Lore holds that Mickey’s Speedway USA is too powerful for mortals to bear.
Minnesota Fats
A character featured in the Paul Newman film The Hustler, as well as the book of the same name, who is an enigmatic expert at the game of pool. Often portrayed as intimidating yet jovial, two games featuring him in the title were released for Sega consoles, one for the Mega Drive and the other for the Saturn. The Mega Drive version has him act as the game’s final boss, while the Saturn version notably has FMV cutscenes and a hilarious story mode where one plays as Fats to take down an illegal gambling ring and save his son, Junior. Within the Saturn game, he is also stated to have possibly contributed more to the game than any professional player. After Fly streamed this version’s story mode, the character took on a life of his own, including being incorporated into the lore of The Quiet Woman (see Q). While Fats is a fictional character, a real life pool player named Rudolf Wanderone claimed to be the inspiration for the character and is featured in videos on the Saturn version, though the author denies his claims.
Minnesota Fatts
Daylight’s constant misspelling of said Pool Legend’s name.
Mola Ram
The villain of 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Became a server joke following the character’s inclusion in server user PeridotGX’s hypothetical roster for a Disney equivalent of Multiversus (see section M), which was received as a random and humorous pick that’s spawned jokes like Mola Ram being in the actual Multiversus as a staff bias pick.
Movie Marathons (#movie-marathon)
A chat where movies are streamed, often host to Movie Club on Thursday, in which members of Experience Point stream movies they want to share and discuss with fellow movie buffs or even just people who want to hang out and chat.
Mr. Tayto
The mascot of the Irish potato crisp company Tayto. An anthropomorphic potato clad in a red blazer, striped yellow and black trousers, and a black boater hat. First gained notoriety in the 2021 edition of the Experience Point Hunger Games, where he achieved a final placement of 15th while racking up 4 kills. Often invoked in reference to the Irish theme park Emerald Park, formerly known as Tayto Park; the Tayto company lost the naming rights to the park in 2022, and posts mentioning this change may be accompanied by images of a depressed Mr. Tayto. Not to be confused with the identically-titled Tayto brand operating in Northern Ireland, whose equivalent mascot is typically denounced as an impostor when mentioned.
MultiVersus
A platform fighter based around the properties owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. Notably went out of service a few months after the “beta” release, right after winning Fighting Game Of The Year at the Game Awards over games like King Of Fighters XV. It has since come back, adding Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith to the roster. Jokes are often made about the potential for an extremely wacky roster due to Warner Bros. Discovery’s lengthy list of owned IPs including famous sitcoms, more obscure cartoons, classic films (such as Citizen Kane), and reality programming. With the addition of Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith, it seems the server’s hope for an unhinged roster may come true.
Murder Is Okay
A term used in association with Yuri Lowell, a main protagonist of the RPG Tales of Vesperia. Despite his overwhelming popularity among series fans, his participation in various morally questionable actions, including murder, to little to no consequence or outright praise has made him a joke among server members, with the term “murder is okay” being coined and often included as a part of his name to reference this. Also sees further use to refer to characters who also manage to canonically get away with gratuitous amounts of murder.
N
Natasha, An Underworld Doctor
A character from the video game Honkai: Star Rail that gained notoriety when a seven-second unskippable ad featuring her started playing before many YouTube videos.
New Asgard
The server’s name in its earliest days before it eventually became Experience Point, a name chosen through the votes of its earliest members among many other options. Notably tied with Night Haven in the poll, causing a tiebreaker where Experience Point would ultimately become the chosen name. The origin of this name is that it was once purely a server to talk about spoilers for the then-recent Avengers: Endgame movie.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
A platform fighter by the developers of Slap City that gained notoriety early on for that very reason. Unfortunately, that notoriety was also driven by content creators immediately labeling it a “Smash Killer”, something that the budget title was never going to live up to, and the hype outpaced what the game actually was – a content-lite, if extremely fun, little Nickelodeon fighting game.
Night Haven
One of the many options that the community had decided on for the server’s name alongside Experience Point, with the victor being decided through a user-voted poll. However, Night Haven did not go down without a fight, forcing a tie between Experience Point and a restart using those two names only. As you might guess, Experience Point was the winner while Night Haven became an in-joke about a place that does not exist.
Ninja Rap
A song by Vanilla Ice, originally created for the 1991 film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze. Became associated with Ninja Gaiden protagonist Ryu Hayabusa after a funny video surfaced of him breakdancing to the song. Notable for the chorus, “GO NINJA GO NINJA GO”.
Nino
A playable character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade notable for her fun design and large emote potential. She was the co-winner of the second-annual Hunger Games along with Reggie Fils-Aime. Emotes of her include Nino With A Gun, NinOwO, and a picture of her being confused by what she’s reading.
Nintendo Has FORGOTTEN About Mario
The title of a clickbait YouTube video complaining about the lack of Mario-related announcements after a Nintendo Direct that featured a new game or announcement regarding just about every other major Nintendo IP. Associated with images of Mario looking sad or crying, and related to the Sad Mario meme.
Not just kills, murders
Paraphrased tweet referencing the character Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd from the Fire Emblem: Three Houses game, which alleges that he “murders women. not just kills, but murders”. Typically quoted in ironic manner in reference to a character engaging in minor or inconsequential acts of “violence”, such as rival Pokémon trainers in Nuzlocke runs.
O
Obamaprism
One of the server’s earliest emotes, depicting former United States president Barack Obama as a prism or pyramid. Its purpose and necessity has been put into question, but it keeps surviving the emote purges, meaning it has a dedicated following despite its detractors.
Onceler Joker
Refers to a fake image leak supposedly of Joker’s character render that looked like it was designed by Illumination and had a strangely skinny face and odd smile. Following the reveal that Joker would be the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we were without news or even any idea of what the character would look like in-game for months, leading to situations such as this.
P
Partner Direct
A Nintendo Direct that focuses on third-parties, with the first one released during the heights of the COVID-19 news drought as an unceremonious drop nine hours after it was announced it was going to happen at all. Seen as the funniest possible punchline to the hype surrounding Chieno (see C).
Petah Fortnite
A long-running joke regarding a leak that Peter Griffin was going to be added into Fortnite that sprung up after the developers put joke code in the game to throw dataminers off. Years later, the joke would come to fruition as Buff Peter Griffin actually was added.
Pipe Bomb Propaganda
An image created by user Daylight to explain the benefits of having Pokémon created with the specific purpose of blowing up (also known as “pipe bombs”) during an EXP Egglocke run, which was first posted as a counterargument to user Hinata not wanting any bombs in her run.
Portuguese Baboom
See: Baboom. A joke was made on Smashboards that Baboom is what Rillaboom was called in Portuguese, which member Michael The Spikester believed wholeheartedly without question. He would later state that Baboom was very likely to be added to Smash.
pra_mai
A cut character from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, only known by this filename located in datamined files. There is little information on who this character would have been, unlike other cut characters discovered in a similar manner with more indicative names. The leading theory is that it was the Pokemon Plusle & Minun, who appear as a trophy, but no other evidence to support this exists. It is a mystery.
Q
Question of the Day
A daily event which ran for approximately 365 days, lasting through 2021 and 2022. Questions of the Day were typically asked by Osiris. It has since become Experience of the Week and then Experience Polls.
Quiet Man, The
A 2018 game by Square-Enix. Has an unusual gimmick in that all cutscenes for the first playthrough are muted due to the protagonist’s deafness, leading to the story being open to interpretation until New Game Plus. Was streamed as part of a Dumpster Dive.
Quiet Woman, The
The story of The Quiet Man as interpreted by the server during the playthrough, involving trans narratives, pool player Minnesota Fats, and a masked Phantom Thief secret identity named Corbeau.
R
Randomized Kingdom Hearts
Referring to a series of experiments usually performed by Fly and/or her partner Cocoa, where a vast selection of Disney properties are placed in a randomizer to determine which will feature in the next Kingdom Hearts title and in what role – a randomized KH roster, essentially. These experiments have gained some decent notoriety, as the sheer scope of the pool combined with the random element tends to make for some very outlandish choices. Some of the particularly funny inclusions have gone on to become injokes whenever the topic of KH comes up. Of particular note are the superboss slots, which have oftentimes yielded the wildest and thus most infamous choices out of the batch – examples include Barton Fink, The Country Bears and the Nicolas Cage interpretation of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Red Alear
An evil version of Alear, the main protagonist of Fire Emblem Engage, who is typically depicted as having entirely red hair and dressed in black. Tends to be depicted as a tryhard edgelord, a psychopath or both. The joke originated from seeing Alear looking exactly as depicted within one of the game’s trailers, though the context for the scene in-game is completely different than what the joke grew out to be. The basis for the AlearUnhinged emote.
Red Invasion, The
On April 1st 2024, many members decided to change their name into that of redfeatherraven’s and have a profile that is one of Red’s many pictures of his glasses-wearing cool Pikachui as an April Fools joke, leading to all sorts of reaction from server members, including some who wanted to join in on the joke as the day went on. Afterwards, user Coricus went for a long-term form of the joke using a half-Pit, half-Pikachu hybrid known as “Corecus”.
Reggie Fils-Aime
Former President of Nintendo of America and notable for his larger-than-life charisma. The source of many long-running memes, including the infamous quote “my body is ready”. The second winner of the Experience Point Hunger Games along with Nino.
Resident Evil, also known as Biohazard in Japan
A joke ribbing the writing style of user Scoliosis Jones, who once created an article discussing the likelihood of Resident Evil being featured in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The article had parts that felt clinical, almost like a Wikipedia page, and the opening paragraph of the Wikipedia entry for Resident Evil became a punchline based around misdirection. Jones himself embraced the joke wholeheartedly.
S
Sassy Geno
A name given to a fake image leak of Geno for Smash Ultimate which turned out to be a really specific frame of a Project M mod, named as such because the character seemed to be rolling his eyes and scoffing.
Sawk From Montreal
Shorthand for a Smash trailer dream had by user Opossum. It opened with a Pokeball sound and everyone downvoting the YouTube video that was premiering the trailer, followed by an Avengers Endgame-style location caption stating the trailer was happening in “MONTREAL”. In the dream, Throh was beaten down, and Sawk ran in to save him with the tagline “SAWK wins back the crowd!”. The dislikes on the video instantly turned to likes and Sawk became one of the most well-received newcomers.
Scrimblo Bimblo
A term often shortened to “scrimblo” used to refer to platformer mascot characters with a disproportionately loud fanbase for their level of influence and overall popularity. The term originates from a popular tweet made during Fighter Pass 1 that read “Smash Fans when Sakurai reveals Popular McJRPGGuy and not Scrimblo Bimblo, the Lovable Scrunko from the great platformer they played as kids 26 years ago” and accompanied with an image macro reading “I will break into your house and make you feel unsafe”.
Sergei
The baffling surprise antagonist of GameCube video game Custom Robo, whose motivations are revealed in a ten-minute long villain monologue that features a save point halfway through.
Shrik 3
A misspelling of Shrek The Third. An early attempt at finding a Shrek The Third theatrical bootleg that yielded a burned copy of the commercial DVD with “SHRIK 3” written on it in Sharpie.
Six Apples
Refers to a story told by user Fly about her friend who ate six apples while playing The Bouncer, an action-fighting PS2 game by Squaresoft, and suffered “gastrointestinal distress that would level Babylon”. Jokes about it include how one should never eat exactly six apples, as well as general references to The Bouncer. As Fly’s friend put it, “you can tell this story is true because if I was making it up I’d be playing a better game than The Bouncer for the PS2.”
Skeleton Man, The
The main villain of a Syfy Original Movie of the same name, found for $2 in a thrift store by Fly and purchased due to the hilarious title. The film inexplicably stars Michael Rooker and, briefly, Casper van Dien, and gained notoriety after being screened during a Movie Marathon due to the nonsensical plot, hilariously cheap Skeleton Man costume, and constant deaths that Skeleton Man racks up during the movie. The Skeleton Man himself is unkillable, and is often facetiously referred to as The Composite Fire Emblem due to his use of every Fire Emblem weapons triangle weapon (sword, axe, bow) as well as a trusty steed during the course of the film. Has the ridiculous slogan “Some Myths Are Real…”.
Slowpoke
One of the original 151 Pokémon featured in the Pokémon series. Also an emote on the Experience Point Discord server, used as a reaction to a user posting something that has already been posted prior by another person.
Smash Killer
A term that some people on the Internet use to describe literally any modern platform fighter that isn’t Smash Bros. Within EXP, it tends to be used ironically because we’re wise enough to realize Smash’s massive reach and popularity cannot be stopped by a single game and the fact that competition in a genre can actually be healthy for all games involved. Ironically, the two biggest known cases of “Smash Killers”, the original Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl and MultiVersus, would end up dropping the ball as the former would end up having a very lackluster amount of content for its price and the latter would get (temporarily) shut down during its second season which also had very lacking content.
Smashboards
A long-running forum dedicated to the Super Smash Bros. series. Many members of Experience Point started as members of the forum and met each other there through speculation and social threads, with plenty still posting there to this day.
Smoke
A hypothetical ARMS character that came to Gwen in a dream, only described as looking like the Octopus badnik from Sonic 2’s Oil Ocean Zone, but bigger. Was revealed in a Smash Bros fighter pass along with a Bokoblin and others, which Dream Gwen and her friends universally agreed sucked.
Soulcalibur VI Legendary CPU Tournament
A CPU tournament hosted by Osiris which acted at the 50th and final Experience of the Week, featuring her interpretations of how certain users would be if they were characters in Soulcalibur as well as certain in-jokes such as Yodasumi, Himeko and Zellen among others using VI’s in-depth character creation mode. The tournament itself was indeed legendary, with notable moments including Unikorn’s Canada Gun, “the Siegfried/Nightmare buttons”, Night Haven being an actual person with a backstory and an entire speculation scene based on who would be the next fighter (or “Soul”) shown across multiple trailers, complete with a fake leak made by Orie, among other moments that truly made this the stage of EXP history.
Spy Squids
An unofficial Splatoon 3 team consisting of server users Rose, Daylight, Unikorn, ahemtoday and Nova which was first named in October 2022, one month after the game’s launch. Used to refer to the 5 users as a group. Humorously, Bold is considered the mascot of the group despite not buying the game until April 2024.
StayPuft Geno
https://youtu.be/yMIkaVUC0uc
Stromboli
Disney’s name for the character Mangiafuocco in Pinocchio and the subject of a multi-year long search where server member Opossum swore that when he saw Shrek The Third in theaters, a scene involving Prince Charming addressing various fairytale villains had him referring to the character Puppet Master as “Stromboli” in a line that was later cut. After purchasing novelizations of the film, a copy of Justin Timberlake’s original recording script, and following several leads (including unearthing a video of someone finding and destroying a Shrek The Third theatrical bootleg at a thrift store), Opo was eventually able to find multiple theatrical rips of the film to confirm it was but a misremembered event. However, Stromboli is referred to as such in the video game adaptation of Shrek The Third, with a level dedicated to him called Stromboli’s Workshop.
Stromboli Saga, The
The name given to Opossum’s multi-year long search for a theatrical rip of Shrek the Third where the Puppet Master was named Stromboli.
Summer of Suffering
Refers to Geoff Keighley’s Summer Games Fest event that began after E3 was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial event was a disaster, featuring almost four months of separate announcements, different company livestreams, bizarre trailers for games that blended together while being hyped up as the greatest thing ever, and no consistent schedule to follow. It was also constantly described as a Summer Of Gaming, with the branding being the only thing tying them all together. The dull and protracted nature of it all lead to calls to end the pain, but as of 2023 Geoff has continued to push his events as the new E3, and they’ve only gotten slightly better. However, with E3 now being gone for good, this is now our only option for a large event of summer game announcements, Truly suffering indeed.
Sus
Short for suspicious. Became popular as shorthand when Among Us exploded onto the scene, with common accusations being that “Red is Sus”.
T
Tabletop Squad
A group of seven users consisting of Bolderousness, redfeatherraven, Fire, Katt, Coricus, Espurr and Iffy, who play tabletop games online together on a weekly basis. Friendly rivals with the Spy Squids, though the two groups rarely if ever play together outside of Game Night. Also known as the DnD Squad even though Dungeons and Dragons is but one of many games that they play.
Team Air
The hypothetical third evil team of Pokémon’s Hoenn region. Much like how Team Magma wants to awaken Groudon to expand the land, and Team Aqua wants to awaken Kyogre to expand the sea, Team Air’s goal is to summon Rayquaza to expand the sky. The concept came from a joke server user Orpheus made during the Pokemon Emerald Nuzlocke Relay, which snowballed into other users contributing to Team Air’s lore. Notable highlights include the group’s affiliation with infamous airline company Southwest Airlines and their battle theme being the title theme of the 1987 Star Wars parody film Spaceballs. Team Air is believed to be the only evil team in the Pokémon franchise to actually accomplish their goals, as suggested by the abnormally large skyboxes in the games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Ted Lasso
The title character of the popular television show. Became a part of EXP canon due to speculation for the game MultiVersus, when the game’s original leaker had come back with a list of characters supposedly in the works, including Lasso. He was likely the rumoured character that caught the most attention, thanks to both the comical nature of the addition and the fact that pretty much no one had predicted him beforehand. Users not only found the suggestion hilarious but at some points expressed genuine excitement (due to him being seen as something of a breath of fresh air amongst all the suggestions for the likes of Cartoon Network characters) and frequently started posting memes about his hypothetical addition when the game came up.
Terry the Bulldog
A character that came to user Opossum in a dream, in which Sakurai promised a character that was a tribute to William Hanna of Hanna-Barbera. Said character was someone who transformed into a different Hanna-Barbera character for every move. When asked why they were adding a William Hanna tribute character, Sakurai responded that Hanna’s character, Terry The Bulldog, was the inspiration behind Terry Bogard. Terry The Bulldog is not a real character.
That Person
Widely used moniker for the character Azrael (see Section A).
Theodore Spinelli
Also known as “The Antagonist of Tetris“, the nickname given by user Opossum to a character invented wholecloth for the Tetris biopic released in 2023, a Russian spy who wants to steal the rights to Tetris before Nintendo can purchase them. His name is a reference to T-Spinning, an advanced Tetris technique. While his name is not actually Theodore Spinelli, the frantic car chase involving him set to a Russian cover of Holding Out For A Hero is a real thing, as well as his downfall coming as a result of his boarding the wrong flight. The hilarious and incongruous nature of adding an antagonistic force to the already-interesting story about the rights to Tetris has made “Spinelli” a constant running gag.
Third Grade Recorder Concert
Refers to the song “Dove Clock,” featured in server user Orpheus’ streams of the cult classic Dreamcast game Napple Tale. The song is jarring and amateurish in nature and sounds similar to a third grade recorder concert, which is in stark contrast to the fact that it was composed by legendary Japanese composer Yoko Kanno, known for composing many iconic soundtracks such as those of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell among others.
This Is So Cool
A phrase that came from a game of Junktopia one Jackbox game night, where user Rose captioned a plastic gecko with the phrase. It was recreated and turned into a sticker.
This Man
Not to be confused with That Person, This Man refers to a piece of official art of Fei Fong Wong from Xenogears which has a humorously neutral expression and power stance. In the BradyGames Official Strategy Guide for Xenogears, it was one of two pieces of art of Fei the publisher had access to, and so it appeared often, which is detailed in an article here.
Thorgi’s Arcade
A popular Youtube channel revolving primarily around fighting games. It is most famous for its “Build the Roster” series, where the host comes up with hypothetical fighting game rosters. This series has been the subject of much discussion on the server, with plenty of times where new or previous entries are discussed. The series is somewhat divisive, enjoying great popularity but also facing much criticism in the server for strange decisions, inaccuracies, tenuous justifications and contradictions, all oftentimes borne from a perceived lack of familiarity with the source material. The series had been a relatively frequent topic for a long time, but it reached new heights when the server held a collective watch party of his SEGA Smash Bros. roster video, which had been hotly anticipated thanks in large part to the diatribes of noted SEGA fanboy Speed Weed – this stream is notable for, among other things, crystallizing the Majima’s Iconic Gun joke (see M) in the server canon, as well as generally leading to even more recurring discussion on the series and its aspects, both positive and negative. Another key moment in the server’s history with the channel is when Fly and Cocoa watched the Capcom vs. SNK 3 roster and were highly critical of it, thus more overtly bringing the series’ issues to light. This all culminated in what might arguably be the apex of the server’s long relationship with the channel – once, in early 2024, the series finally decided to tackle Super Smash Bros. Many users watched the episode live and were baffled by the high amount of the aforementioned problems, thus spreading a much wider understanding of the series’ issues and cementing the server’s perception of it towards a largely negative slant, often being a subject of ridicule.
Tigreast
During Daylight’s 4th of July dumpster dive stream, the various users in the voice chat were discussing the Pokémon series, when someone brought up a translation of an interview that stated that the original plan for the American localization of the series was to change the Pokémon’s designs to appeal to more American tastes, including, supposedly, Pikachu being changed into “a tiger with large breasts”. This information sent the chat into a frenzy, with the sheer ridiculousness of the idea prompting an analysis of the hypothetical ramifications this would have on the course of the franchise in the West – Tigreast was the name given to this “American Pikachu”. One user, ahemtoday, went particularly deep into this insane alternate history scenario and the myriad logistical issues that would arise from it. However, the chat’s hopes and dreams were crushed once it was reported that the quote is a mistranslation, and was actually referring to a substantially less funny scenario where Pikachu would have been changed into a muscular tiger, with the “breasts” moreso being pecs.
Tinfoil Hat Theory / Sora In Smash
Used to describe a theory Daylight had that the final character added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was going to be one with rights secured late, specifically Sora from Kingdom Hearts, due to the pomp and circumstance behind the sixth slot when Fighter Pass 2 was announced. Daylight had left the server for a long time during the course of Fighter Pass 2’s reveal, but when the last character was revealed to indeed be Sora, they returned triumphantly and everyone was happy.
Title Drop
The phrase for when a work’s title is uttered inside the work itself, usually through dialogue. A long-running trope that gained significant notoriety with the release of Persona 4: Dancing All Night which contains the phrase “We really were dancing all night…” as well as the film Suicide Squad (2016) in which Will Smith says “What are we, some kind of suicide squad?”. These lead to the creation of social accounts dedicated to posting parodies of title drops in movies and shows, and those have spread onto the server. Both parodic and legitimate title drops in media are appreciated here, with Tougon often finding ways to incorporate humorously clunky titles into mock dialogue. See: American Psycho.
Todd Howard
An omnipresent game developer who works for Bethesda. Wants you to buy Skyrim and also Starfield. Often the source of many a joke because of the constant Skyrim rereleases and his odd public mannerisms. The server has a bot named Toddbot that activates in certain channels, posting a random Todd Howard emote whenever his name is mentioned.
Totally Normal Journey
A game played by Daylight during a Dumpster Dive, a Newgrounds-esque choose-your-own-adventure game by Kimulator Films consisting of rotoscoped MS Paint visuals and multiple amateurish-yet-catchy songs. The plot can be generously described as “random”. Kimulator’s other games are not recommended.
Transgender Abilities
A running gag between trans members of the servers where it’s claimed that trans people all have various superpowers based on the abilities of characters like Madeline from Celeste or Bridget from Guilty Gear. All trans women can double jump.
Twelve
A character originating from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and once a sticker for this server. However, during one of the purges, it was tragically one of the lost stickers until heroic user Daylight made a proposition to Osiris; if they could guess who voted for Twelve, they would be spared and Day could choose another sticker to be purged in Twelve’s stead. While they succeeded, leading to one of the Godot stickers to be purged, Osi still erased Twelve in order to add the Onceler sticker at the last second, making that entire moment pointless. However, Twelve’s memory lives on through the hearts of those who loved the sticker… until it eventually returned.
U
Ultimate Scam, The
A line referencing the plot synopsis for the 1996 film Trainspotting used by multiple streaming services. The Ultimate Scam synopsis has become infamous for mischaracterizing the film’s tone by foregoing any mention of its heavy subject matter, using questionable descriptors such as “rebellious action,” and highlighting the Ultimate Scam, a plot point that isn’t relevant until the film’s final act. The synopsis gives viewers the impression that the entire film is an action-packed romp about the main leads trying to pull off a get-rich-quick scheme, which is in stark contrast to how dark the film gets. This has led to Experience Point users making jokes that recontextualize the film to be more in-line with its synopsis, and treating any references to scamming as deliberate references to the film. Comparisons to the Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd, n’ Eddy are also common when referencing the film in this context.
V
Veld
The primary antagonist and final boss of the 1999 Japan-only Super Famicom game Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. Typically regarded as one of the most underwhelming boss fights in the Fire Emblem series, he became infamous after winning the 2022 edition of the Experience Point Hunger Games in a similarly unexpected fashion, achieving no kills until Day 14 of the event before embarking on a rampage in which he attained a grand total of 9 kills – the highest in the tournament – with his victory being sealed by the death of May (Guilty Gear) from hypothermia. He then returned in the 2023 edition, where he suffered an unspectacular exit at the hands of Sneasler; often regarded as a reference to the Capture mechanic of Thracia 776 where the player may defeat Veld in the final battle by merely capturing and releasing him alive.
Vergeben
The original leakerman, Vergeben (or Verg) revealed almost all the base roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before release. Despite having a bad track record with other games, his claims for Smash Ultimate were all legitimate (aside from one Master Chief claim near the end of its DLC cycle). This gained him some notoriety as people would cling onto his every word, though other more credible industry names such as former GamePro editor Imran Khan doubted his veracity. Khan would claim that “Vergeben” wasn’t just one person but multiple people posting under one account, which lead to Verg gaining a mythical status as an endless array of clones often represented by The Smiths from The Matrix. “I’m already Half-Vergeben” became a running joke, combining Khan’s claims with an infamous part of Kingdom Hearts lore where the main antagonist, Xehanort, splits his essence into multiple bodies.
W
Wahoominati, The
The name given to Shigeru Miyamoto’s creative control over the Mario franchise, taking the form of a shadowy organization who will kill you for things like acknowledging that Toadsworth exists. Represented by Kingdom Hearts character Xigbar in a Mario hat and with a Mario nose.
Walter White
The main character of the drama series Breaking Bad, a biology teacher-turned-drug-lord. The series is well-regarded for being an excellent and dramatic series but also a gripping dark comedy, with a lot of humor both intentional and unintentional coming from Bryan Cranston’s excellent, emotional performance as Walter. Scenes such as Walter throwing the pizza on the roof or an out-of-context scene involving his having an emotional breakdown have become popular all over the internet.

Yoda
A green creature from the Star Wars series. For his memorable way of speaking, he is notable. Is the source of a lot of jokes and amusement, such as Lego Yoda looking deeply disapproving and making for a hilarious emote, Lego Yoda having an extremely funny death sound in the Lego Star Wars games, jokes about Yoda and Yodasumi doing ketamine and driving a Honda Civic, Baby Yoda as seen in The Mandalorian, and the video “sout park“, in which a Yoda impersonator fails to complete the South Park theme song.
Yodasumi
A mashup emote of Yoda and Kasumi Yoshizawa, created during a time where Gentlepanda would Photoshop Kasumi into everything. Much like Lego Yoda, she is characterized by her love of ketamine and running over pedestrians in her Honda Civic. Mortal enemies with Himeko.
Z
Zarude
The polar opposite of Baboom. If Baboom is the God of Winning, then Zarude is a perpetual loser who isn’t even a God, as that would mean he had won divinity. Ironically, he does have an advantage over Baboom since he has two server emotes while Baboom only has one, though one can argue Baboom only needed the one emote while Zarude struggles to keep up despite having more.
Zellen
A part-spaceship, part-alien-life-force, and antagonist of the fictitious video game D.A.T.A., who later became playable in the remake. He comes from a Smash trailer dream by user KTG. In said dream, after being launched onto a spaceship, Waluigi witnesses the Rabbids from Rayman analyzing footage which they then slow the audio down until it becomes the Smash announcer saying “THERE HE IS!!!”. After the ominous proclamation, a character described as a monstrous cross between Second-Form Frieza and Megatron appeared and went through a surprisingly graphic fighting montage until a creepy voice said “Zellen From D.A.T.A. Available today.”

It has since been established that Zellen can control minds and take over bodies to replicate and grow his influence. This process is colloquially termed “being Zellened”.
